A Few Changes!

April 17th, 2008

This will be short…

  • I removed the floating menu. (I already miss it but it used too much space on the search page)
  • Unapproved Profiles No Longer Appear in Site Lists.
  • I think that’s everything…

That’s All!

Review Priorities!

April 16th, 2008

Phone Sex Seeker has become an all review all the time website. In the past the profiles on Seeker were done on the honor system. The honor system worked in the past because the profiles we’re soo short and simple that you really couldn’t go wrong. Now with our profiles being more involved the honor system just doesn’t work. So now a days everything on Seeker is reviewed for content, quality and even sometimes grammar.

Every time a profile or a site is edited it is re-reviewed. When I (yes there’s only 1 person, me, Eric, that does reviews) … when I do a review I read the entire profile. There are some mistakes I forgive and some I do not. Some times I’ll remove the improper, offensive, or legally questionable item and sometimes I’ll just mark it unapproved.

Priorities

My priorities for reviewing & re-reviewing profiles are relatively simple. First profiles with pictures get priority over those without. Within those groups I work on newly added profiles first. After that profiles that have been awaiting approval longer are given priority. There are exceptions to these orders, the first is sites that do bulk reapprovals. Now I expect unapproved profiles to be resubmitted regularly until they get approved but when a site/company resubmits 30 plus profiles that were already approved I take my sweet time. Especially when after checking a few nothing appears to be changed!

  • w/Pictures
        newly added
        older to newer
  • wo/Pictures
        newly added
        older to newer
  • Exceptions
        Bulk Re-approvals
        Other Dumb Crap :)

Time Frame

As was mentioned above I am the only reviewer for Seeker! Seeker is supposed to be a low maintenance site despite the fact it is without a doubt my largest and most popular. So I take my time with things when it comes to Seeker. I refer to the current profiles on the site as “new” even though they’ve been active for over a year now. I try not to put off work on Seeker as it’s Member’s are it’s lifeblood, but at the same time Seeker is not my lifeblood and it’s prioritized appropriately. So any timeframe I give is going to be flexible!

For the most part I try to review profiles within one week of being updated or added. When there’s a lot of profiles to review I focus on those with pictures. Today I did all the profiles with pictures and then checked some profiles without pictures. The profiles I checked without pictures were about to hit the 2 week mark. I checked a couple profiles from the 3rd as well.

All in all reviews will get done, so be patient and I will get to yours!

Webmaster Area!

February 10th, 2008

Webmasters,

I am almost finished working on an updated Webmaster’s area. All your old abilities are still present but everything is better organized, and more informational.

  • Information At A Glace - The main page is setup to give you a bird’s eye view of your companies status.
  • Company Association - shows a list of sites and their status within your company or billing organization.
  • Operators - are now displayed in a list showing vital info such as approval statuses. The table also includes a link to view their profile and to open their update page.
  • Design - The layout is more compressed and provides easier access to features.

Even though the new area is still being worked on it is now the only version of the Webmaster’s Area that you can log into. The few pages that haven’t been updated at the time of this posting will revert to the old pages. You may need to log out and log back in to reenter the new areas. If you run into problems please email me.

Blond vs Blonde

November 1st, 2007

I always find it interesting when people send me emails about things that really don’t matter… but for some reason they need to make an issue of it. (I’m sure that’s bad sentence structure but it’s not important you get the idea) I had some buffoon email me a few weeks ago complaining about the spelling of the word “Blonde” on PhoneSexSeeker. So I got bored today and decided to go and look up the particulars.

Google Search: define:blonde

This is rather simple both spellings are correct. Blond(e) comes from some old french word and was adapted into old english… etc… etc… read it on wiki like I did. Basically Blond is for us guys and Blonde is for the gals. Since Seeker promotes mostly woman I have no issue using Blonde as the site default.

Now during my 6 minute fact finding mission I did manage to come up with a new site name for Seeker’s parent company, JKE Enterprises. It’s not live but eventually blondeliciousphonesex.com will get added to the roster over at JKE.

Passcode Add Ops Page Updated!

January 25th, 2007

Resently we upgraded our Operator profiles here on Seeker. The process was a royal pain and really only reached an 85% completetion. I’m finishing off some of the final details now. What I’ve done today is to update a page that webmasters, site owners and their operators use to add operator profiles to Seeker. This is one of 2 add pages but for simplicity I think I’m going to do away with the one in the webmaster’s area.

The updated page has been tested a few times and seems to work fine. If there are any problems though feel free to email me at webmaster@phonesexseeker.com

Policy Update!

January 24th, 2007

All Operator Profiles that have not been updated within 1 year will be removed.

Our reasons for this are…

1. To help purge abandoned profiles from the system.
2. To encourage the use of our new profiles system.
3. To help keep content on Seeker updated and accurate.

This process will be done manually so purges may not take place exactly at the 1 year point.

Profile Page Update!

September 24th, 2006

Old Profile Page
New Profile Page

I am in the process of upgrading Seeker’s Op Profile Pages! It’s not done. The idea is to add more of a community feel, without creating too much more work for myself in the area of monitoring. The new page will change as I fiddle with it but so far I already think it’s a vast improvement. I hope to make this page live within a week. It may take longer for Member Sites to update their operator’s information to take advantage of the redesigned page.

Suggestions are wanted and welcome.

New Add Op Page for Webmasters!

August 26th, 2006

I took some time today to make the Ad Op page in the webmaster’s section easier to use.

1. First I updated the colors for the Add Area.
2. I made the update process 2 steps. Now you’ll enter into a second page where you can verify the operators information.
3. The second page also has an option to go back and make changes, this option will not lose your data like using the back button sometimes does.
4. The second page verifies that the parent site’s URL is included in the operator’s URL.
(this will eventually be added to all add and update pages)

As always if there’s any questions or problems please email webmaster@phonesexseeker.com

ASP to ASP.net

August 23rd, 2006

So I’ve been working on converting Phone Sex Seeker from an ASP driven website to an ASP.NET driven website. So what does that mean? Basically it means my head is ready to explode. I’ve made an asp.net version of the search and the enter pages to the site. So far I have nearly 32 hours invested in the two pages alone. The good news on my end is that as I progress through the changes I remember more and more of how I original designed the site and become more familiar with the steps needed to convert Seeker from asp to asp.net.

So why the big push to change? or better yet why should you care? What’s good for seeker is good for most of it’s members. I consider asp.net to be a royal pain in the ass but it is undeniably faster than asp. A while back I added a loading script to seeker so people wouldn’t think the site wasn’t going to load. Yes it was taking that long! The new page still includes the loading script but you never see it. The pages are loading that fast!

The new pages are not publically available yet but if I can get this project finished quickly I’ll publish the asp.net version of the site hopefully in week or two.

Billing Names?!?!

August 17th, 2006

Why do I require billing names on sites?

I’ve had a few sites remove themselves from Seeker because of my insistence that they maintain their credit card billing name in a high profile place on their sites. More specifically in a easily found location at or before the introduction of the service number. Am I concerned about losing a few members over this? Not really!

But why do I have the rule? Simple Seeker isn’t designed around ease of use for it’s members, it’s designed for it’s guests. The focus on Operators rather than sites was for our guests. The requirement that a billing name be easy to find and even dominate it’s location is for our guests.

“I/We could lose our merchant account for having the name listed on a site with nudity” - Someone said!

If you had the type of merchant account you’re supposed to have in this business then it shouldn’t be an issue. If you’re running your site on a merchant account intended for web design, selling homemade gift baskets or maybe candles then you’re taking the risk upon yourself.

Now for those of you that are out there on the edge the recommended way to display your billing name if you still want to be on seeker is to display it as an image. Give it a non-descript name like billing.gif and make sure you do not include you billing name in the alt tag. This will make it so your billing name is not searchable. Also keep in mind that if your billing name and business name are the same copyright tags and such will also return your site in some search engines. The best option is always to be 100% don’t get a cheap merchant account under false pretenses or you may find the savings wasn’t as valuable as you thought.
